INTRODUCTION TO REFLEXOLOGY: 2009 It is a wholly natural method of bringing about relaxation, balance and an aid to healing through the stimulation of specific points of the feet. It is based on the concept that every part of the body is connected by energy pathways which end in reflex areas in the feet, hands or head. In other words, the body is mirrored in the feet. Tension or congestion in any part of the body is reflected in the corresponding reflex areas of the feet.
By working these areas on the feet in a particular way, the reflexologist stimulates the body to achieve its own natural state of balance and good health.
Reflexology is a countermeasure to stress and induces relaxation and promotes a restful night sleep. You don't need to have a reason to have a reflexology treatment; the experience is pleasurable and can simply be taken to revitalise the body.
Stimulates the nervous system
Nerves communicate messages from the central nervous system to all parts of the body. By stimulating nerve ending through reflexology, it encourages the neural pathways to allow messages to travel round the body freely to all the organs and systems of the body, so they all work effectively together.
Easing Pain
Reflexology can act as a form of pain control. There are two ways that reflexology can do this. Firstly by encouraging the body to produce endorphins, which are the body's own natural painkiller. By stimulating the pituitary gland reflex during the reflexology treatment it increases the amount of endorphins released into the body. Also by interrupting the pain cycle through the application of pressure to the feet.
Preventive Treatment
By calming the mind and body and taking time to relax, and finding the time for an occasional visit to the reflexologist can prove to be of great benefit.
The lymphatic system is stimulated through reflexology, thus helping to reduce the risk of infection. By cleansing the body of toxins and impurities, and by stimulating the production of endorphins, it improves the immune system and providing a sense of well being.
Reflexology and Stress
Many disorders are stressed related and increasing numbers of people are suffering from stressed related conditions. The severity of these conditions and the effect of stress vary with each individual.
Stress causes tension and therefore causes muscles to tighten up, thus effecting the nervous systems, which causes the pain. Blood vessels then constrict so the blood cannot flow so freely round the body carrying the oxygen and nutrients.
The effects of the reflexology treatment induces the relaxation of muscles, relaxing physical tension so the nervous system can function normally, thus benefiting the other systems in the body. Other affects include:
Blood vessels relax, so the oxygen and nutrients can be carried freely around the body by the blood to all the tissues.
The lymphatic system works more effectively, helping to rid the body of toxins and impurities.
Breathing becomes more even and deeper.
Balancing hormone levels.
Revitalising the client, so they feel uplifted, calm, relaxed, balanced and re-energised.

RESTYLANE FACIAL LINE FILLERS, MUSCLE RELAXING TREATMENTS AND RED VEIN REMOVAL Restylaneis a safe, non-surgical answer to the elimination of fine lines and wrinkles; enabling sculpting of lips and facial contours. HELP THE ENVIRONMENT AND SAVE THE POLAR BEARS You can be assured that every time you visit our salon, you are in the hands of a business that cares deeply about the safeguarding of our natural resources and the protection of our planet. In our own small ways, we can all do a bit towards helping to protect the environment. The way we go about this is by recycling all our waste and keeping product waste to a minimum. We use longlife light bulbs throughout the salon and these are not left on overnight. We don't keep any electrical appliances on standby either.
You'll always be asked, when you purchase products, whether you specifically want a bag. This helps keep plastic bag usage and disposal to a minimum. We wash all our towels at low temperatures and use detergents with care. Laundry is dried naturally outside in the garden, weather permitting, and we have a water butt that provides rainwater for the garden and indoor plants. Hopefully, in these small ways, we can help minimise global warming and the melting of the polar ice caps.
